Daunted by Industry 4.0 and the Internet of Things? Don’t be: it’s easier than you think, urges Cathie Hall, managing director of K3 Syspro
Where do you begin? How do you even start? Take a look at some of the glitzy high-profile examples of manufacturing businesses that are making use of Industry 4.0 and the Internet of Things, and most manufacturers could be forgiven for asking such questions. Because for many, the apparent gulf between their own businesses and the futuristic manufacturing ones that are touted in glossy case studies and videos can seem very real.
And their concern is understandable. Embracing Industry 4.0 and the Internet of Things is all very well, if you’re an enormous multinational business. But, the gulf to be straddled can appear daunting for smaller businesses without large budgets and without significant reserves of technical expertise.
Not so, says Cathie Hall, managing director of ERP provider K3 Syspro. In fact, she argues, the route to such Industry 4.0-style and Internet of Things-based digital transformation is easier and quicker than many manufacturers realise.
